What is it?

Updated: Sep 22, 2020

Hello, all my Lovelies!

I started this blog to be an educational safe space and a space to spread awareness on AutoImmune illnesses and other things that others and myself (may) suffer from.

So what is it?

Autoimmune Disease is a disease where the immune system in the body mistakenly attacks healthy cells and tissues. This is the body's response as the immune system has become overactive.

I have been diagnosed with an Autoimmune disease called MCTD. Mixed Connective Tissue Disease.

What does that mean? Mixed connective tissue disease is an autoimmune disease known as a Lupus overlap disease. It is characterized by features of Lupus Erythematosus, Systemic Sclerosis, Polymyositis, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Since being diagnosed with Mctd I have developed the aforementioned illnesses along with cancer, hearing loss, and many others! It is a rare autoimmune disease that many doctors still don't know how to treat.

What is Systemic Lupus Erythematosus? It is an inflammatory disease caused by the immune system being overactive and attacking the body's organs, cells, and tissues like Mctd they are similar in many ways and both can lead to the development of other autoimmune illnesses in the body. This is why Mctd is known as an overlap because of the similarities in this and many other illnesses, this makes it hard to diagnose. These illnesses affect everyone differently. Although there is no cure for Autoimmunity there are treatments, including diet changes and immunosuppressant medicines.

My illnesses cause a lot of fatigue and problems and even issues with accessibility!

So I know this 1st post is very factual, but I wanted to be informative.

Well, Lovelies... I hope you all learned a little something!

-Stay Lovely.
