Hello Lovelies!
Usually I write about my struggles, unjust treatment, or about my Autism, but today I want to tell you about some good things that have happened to me.
For starters,
I began writing for Neuroclastic back in 2021.
I was writing about my lived experiences as a Black, chronically ill, autistic person, and what that looked like for me navigating society and the medical field, advocating for myself. Similar to what I do here but on a larger scale.
I am typically quiet and keep to myself, but I love helping others by advocating and showing up in different ways. I also love writing about things. I feel it gives me a voice when I can't always find one.
I would like to believe my words are helping people.
Fast forward,
Last year I was a part of a beautiful project. It was a documentary on Autism in rural Virginia.
It was titled: Life In The Heart Land.
I, along with many others, was interviewed about our experiences, how we were viewed as autistic people, and how that was affected by living in rural Virginia.
The documentary was filmed by Lindsey Sitz, Zan Gillies, and their lovely team.
It was aired on PBS. Season 3, episode 1, on September 29th, 2025.
Our segment on Autism won an Emmy at the Capitol Emmy Awards on June 20th, 2026!
Congrats to all involved!
Now,
As of August 10th, 2026, I was interviewed and featured in an Australian magazine!
It is called The Blend Magazine. It is a publication focusing on those who need enteral and parenteral nutrition.
It is founded and edited by journalist, author, and advocate Melanie Dimmit.
She launched the magazine in 2022, during Australia's feeding tube awareness week. She was looking for a better, less clinical way to spread awareness after navigating her son's care and transition into tube feeding.
We talked about my experiences being tube fed, navigating the medical field, and being an autistic, chronically ill mother of two, and what my advice is for new chronically ill people who are new to tube feeding. It is a good read, and I feel so special to be a part of another meaningful topic.
Honestly, I am shocked that I am now drawing the attention of people globally.
People who want to work with me and know more about my experiences.
I am really excited to see what other opportunities the future holds for me.
I just wanted to share some positives. Every day won't be a good one, but remember there are silver linings and a light in the darkness. It won't always be gloomy. I promise.
_Stay Lovely_
