Hello Lovelies,

What is Resilience?

What does it mean to be Resilient?

Throughout my life I have been told that "I am so resilient" when I tell people some of my life story.

I'm not sure why really. I am usually just in survival mode.

I'm usually in a constant state of fight or flight.

All my life, I had to fight. Fight to be born, fight to be heard, fight to survive.

I've been fighting battles ever since.

To me, being resilient doesn't mean that you are untouched by pain or hardships.

You feel it fully, grief, fear, the aches and pains.

It means falling apart and picking up the pieces, putting yourself back together.

I've had to do this a lot in my life, know when to push and when to pause.

Carrying hope in one pocket and realism in the other.

It's showing up for yourself when life knocks you down again and again.

But sometimes I get tired of being strong. I get tired of being the one everyone else relies on, while I suffer in silence. Is that also a sign of resilience?

To want someone else to hold my hand and tell me everything will be ok.

Being strong is sometimes exhausting.

Realizing that and still stepping into the hurricane, into the chaos, showing up anyway, that is also resilience.

What does it mean to you?
